MOD SQUAD

Mod Squad was formed almost by accident during the winter of 2024. Founder Steve Crabtree was asked to host a jam night at Bits, a cocktail bar where he has maintained a long-term residency as a solo performer. This wasn't an open mic event. Instead, it was an invitation-only gathering designed to bring together some of Steve's favorite local musicians for an evening of music and camaraderie.

To create the house band, Steve invited friends Pat Coy and John Paredes to join him. The jam night was such a success that it quickly became a monthly event. As word spread about both the gathering and the quality of the house band, more and more musicians began showing up eager to sit in and perform with them.

Between jam nights, Steve, Pat, and John started documenting the songs they were playing and expanding their repertoire. Over time, they assembled a continually growing catalog of favorite songs spanning every era and genre. Before long, the trio began performing regular shows together. The only thing they lacked was a name. After some consideration, they christened themselves Mod Squad, a name that perfectly captured the mood, style, and vibe of the group.

Steve Crabtree

Steve Crabtree has been performing since the age of 15 and has played stages around the world. Most recently, he returned from a solo tour of Italy. In addition to his solo performances, Steve performs with several popular tribute acts, including Petty Thief and The Neil Youngs. He is also involved with numerous local cover bands, including Lone State, Unknown Legends, and others.

Patrick Coy

Patrick Coy is a highly respected drummer and vocalist who has performed throughout the Pacific Northwest for decades. Formerly a member of The Dogtones, he currently performs with The Neil Youngs, one of the region's premier Neil Young tribute bands. Pat is often jokingly referred to as the "fourth and fifth member" of Mod Squad because of the extraordinary talent, energy, and versatility he brings to the trio.

John Paredes

John Paredes is a highly regarded keyboardist and vocalist whose reputation keeps him in constant demand. At one point, John counted an astonishing twelve active bands on his schedule. He's scaled that back to about ten these days. His impressive list of projects includes Kings of Hollywood (Eagles tribute), Petty Thief (Tom Petty tribute), American Fool (John Mellencamp tribute), The Neil Youngs (Neil Young tribute), Just One Look (Linda Ronstadt tribute), and several others.
