MOD SQUAD
‘Mod Squad’ was formed almost by accident in the winter of 2024. Founder Steve Crabtree was asked to host a ‘jam night’ at Bits, a cocktail bar where he’s had a long-term residency as a solo performer. This was not an open mic jam, it was an invite only jam. Steve invited several well-known and established local musician friends to come hang out and jam together. He mostly wanted to get all his musician friends in one room for a night and play together. So he asked friends Pat Coy and John Paredes to join him as the house band. The jam night was so successful, that they made it a monthly get together. Word got out about the jam night, and how good the house band is, that more and more musicians started to show up just to sit in with them. In between jam nights, Steve, Pat and John began writing down all the songs they were playing and learning for the jam. The set lists they put together is a constantly growing set of their favorite songs from every era and every genre. With that, they began playing out as a trio. But they needed a name. They christened themselves, ‘Mod Squad’. It seemed to fit the mood and vibe of the trio.
Steve Crabtree has been performing since the age of 15. He has performed all across the globe. He recently returned from a solo tour in Italy. He is currently performing solo shows and is a member of several well know tribute bands, Petty Thief, The Neil Youngs. He is involved in many local cover bands, Lone State, Unknown Legends and more.
Patrick Coy is a well-known and sought out drummer and vocalist who has played all over the Pacific Northwest for decades. Formerly of The Dogtones, he is currently playing with The Neil Youngs, a Neil Young tribute band. He is often referred to as the 4th and 5th member in the band because of the extra talent he brings to the trio.
John Paredes is also a well known keyboardists and vocalist. John is so popular on the circuit that at one time he counted 12 different bands that he was playing in. He’s cut that back to about 10 now. He plays keyboards in numerous casino tribute bands. Kings of Hollywood (Eagles), Petty Thief (Tom Petty), American Fool (John Mellencamp), The Neil Youngs (Neil Young), Just One Look (Linda Ronstadt) and a few others.
Together, Mod Squad has put together a very unique and super entertaining evening of songs you’ll recognize and love, but rarely hear them covered by anyone else.
